I want to live forever and get to enjoy the fallout of music, to its weirdest moments. Let me experience the sound waves for eternity. Let me become one with music. Embrace the weird. Expand the horizon.
And if I don't, bury me with my Fender.
I'm getting old. I don't want to. I don't want to turn into a fixed number or style of artists on my playlist kind of guy. I used to make fun of people that said led zeppelin or the Beatles was the greatest band ever and they don't need anything else. I want to keep evolving with the times. I want to keep in touch with the music scene. The new material. The new branches of rock. The new sounds.
I want to live forever and get to enjoy the fallout of music, to its weirdest moments. Let me experience the sound waves for eternity. Let me become one with music. Embrace the weird. Expand the horizon. And if I don't, bury me with my Fender.

Hey there. Today I start jamming with my new band. It started off as an idea between coworkers at my new job. Kinda joking at first, but then we started discussing seriously about it. At first it was 5 people, including believe it or not my boss, but it didn't pan out because of indecision and the fact that the other guy who wanted to be the drummer didn't have a drum set. We decided it was too much waiting and invited another coworker to be the drummer if he really did compromise to it. That is the biggest thing when you are starting a project, commitment. We are now 4 committed coworkers and friends starting what I hope is a great band. We already have a name, a place we are going to be rehearsing and a list of what we, as a band, have in stock to begin with, and what we need to buy to get where we should be to start playing in public.
We are going to start jamming with covers to un dust our music skills, and I really need that for my guitar playing, even though I'm 2nd guitar and vocalist. Anywho, we'll see how today goes. These guys have in a very short time become very close friends. I can't wait to hear us play. Now that this is happening, expect more posts! I play guitar, but my forte is singing. I have been looking for alternatives for a small PA system to manage small gigs for the band to come out of the ground that can also handle rehearsals. I found great mixers. good speakers and decent amps for the PA I was planning in building... But the investment is more than I can afford right now... So maybe Ill buy a small portable PA just for myself for rehearsals and as a monitor in the first gigs or whatnot. I'm still looking into it. The band is not consolidated yet, so I'm waiting to see who the musicians are going to be and what equipment they have or use. Still, it would be better to find a sponsor. Someone who knows the music business and that has a studio we can borrow to jam and compose. An investor that can push the band to get legally registered as a business and as a music producer in one of the musical associations internationally to cover the rights and agreements for the band members. I would rather have that ready and have the musicians hired for administrative purposes. That way I can split everything the band makes fairly amongst the band members, the investor and I. It is a good opportunity for someone, yet a big gamble, for no one knows us. Yet. If its meant to be, it will happen. Wish me luck. Ark Navarro I was walking through a swap meet the other day... and saw a pair of wireless dynamic mics for very cheap... But I didn't buy them.
Why? I think quality is best. I still don't know if I'll save for a Shure SM58, the most popular one in the industry; an AKG D5, which is a very good alternative for the first one, but a little cheaper; or save more and buy a Shure Super 55... which is my favorite mic of all time... and sounds great too. What do you think? I already had the money for one of the two first ones... but then I hestitated and ended up spending the money in other things... it's not like the FREAKIN' GUITAR PLAYER IS ANYWHERE IN SIGHT!!!! BTW the project is on hold till I find him or a replacement... g'damm. I embark into the world of music. Scary.
I used to play piano when I was 6 years old. I started playing guitar in high school. I'm always singing... day and night. If you want to ask me how I feel, just ask what song is stuck in my head. I have dreamt of being a vocalist since I was little. Music is my life, and I wanted to make a career in it. But my dad didn't approve, so I couldn't. Until now. |
